| FCC probes complaint that cartoon advertises Skechers shoes - Washington Post Posted: 22 Sep 2010 10:10 AM PDT The Federal Communications Commission launched a review Wednesday into whether a television cartoon featuring characters that also advertise Skechers shoes violates rules limiting commercials to children. "Zevo-3," a program-length series to begin airing Oct. 11 on Nicktoons, features three superheroes from comics and television ads used by Skechers. Characters Kewl Breeze, Z-Strap and Elastika are also the names for shoe lines sold by Skechers and amount to program-length advertisements for the company, according to a complaint filed by the Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood. The FCC said it would take public comments on the complaint to determine whether the series violates the Children's Television Act and agency rules that limit advertising in children's programming. CCFC filed a petition last month to the FCC saying the program would be the first children's show featuring characters only known previously as marketing agents. Skechers did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The superhero characters are promoted in comics tucked into Skechers shoeboxes. CCFC said while "Zevo-3's" creators have promised the show won't have product placements, it is concerned about the association of the comics with the show. In one comic, children defeat an evil character, Dr. Stankfoot, after hero Kewl Breeze gives them Skechers Airators, which claim to combat foot odor. | Tie Your Shoes, Kid: Denard Robinson Will Not Win The Heisman Trophy - Bleacherreport.com Posted: 15 Sep 2010 12:27 PM PDT We've seen what he can do on the football field. We've all seen the cuts, the speed, the dreads flowing in the air in midst of burning yet another secondary. I will admit, however, coming late to the party. However, I did have the luxury of watching Robinson light up the field and my Irish as he ran his way to 258 yards on two touchdowns. He single-handily (and I mean that) won Michigan their fourth game out of five against Notre Dame. Now, in result of his eye-popping (or eye-gouging depending on what fanbase you are loyal to) stats, Robinson's name has soared to the top of the Heisman list. All it took was two weeks, two wins, and two domination's for the next Michigan quarterback to be crowned the Savior. Let's take a step back to last season. Enter Tate Forcier. A freshman at the time, Forcier lead Michigan off to a fantastic start to the year with 4 straight wins and looking like the next big thing in Ann Arbor. Of course, I also had the displeasure of watching him lead his team to a victory over my Irish, just like Robinson did in 2010. Fast forward a year later. Forcier, now the third-string quarterback behind "Shoelace" and freshman Devin Gardner, is merely Rich Rodriguez's personal waterboy. Seen on the sidelines with his usual skullcap, clipboard, and hand warmers, Forcier knows what it's like to be given praise and have it taken back rather quickly. And with that said, he may be the most electrifying player in college football. He very well may prove many people wrong and go on to start all 12 games for Michigan this season, racking up better numbers week in and week out. However, if history proves correct, he won't be out there for every down and every game played. A quarterback who carries the ball 30 times a game, on top of being abused by opponent defenders on passing attempts, isn't going to last a full season in the Big Ten. With a skinny frame to build upon, Robinson would be lucky to weigh in at 190 drenched in Forcier's sideline water. His running style, relying on speed and elusiveness and not the brute strength of a Tim Tebow, calls for one big hit to put an end to all Heisman talk. The point here is this—just don't get your hopes up. Robinson can lead Michigan to victory in every game they play this year, but without him, this team is going to lose plenty of football games. So for now, and however long it lasts, enjoy the cuts, speed, and dreads. It might not be here come week six, and it certainty won't be there come time for the Heisman ceremony in the Big Apple. | Tips for Dealing with Kids' Stinky Feet - Associated Content Posted: 19 Sep 2010 01:41 PM PDT Little bitty feet are super cute and usually never thought of as being stinky. However, with all of the different styles of shoes now made and sold for kids, and fabricated of various materials, it seems that some Regardless, stinky kids' feet are an unwelcome side effect of even your favorite pair of kid's shoes, so you are likely looking for ways to scrub that smell off your child's feet as soon as they take their shoes off. If you need tips for combating your kids' smelly toes, the following tips may be useful. Try Lysol - When your kids' stinky shoes are empty of little feet, try spraying them with Lysol, and then leave them outside to air out and dry. This will probably have to be done regularly to combat shoe odor. Wash their shoes - Crocs can be wiped down easily with a Clorox or Lysol wipe, or even rinsed off with the hose outdoors. They can also be thrown into the wash, however after several washes the clips will begin to degrade and the shoes may fall apart. For other types of foam or rubber sandals, try the same method of wiping down with sanitizing wipes, or frequently rinsing them with a garden hose. Wash their feet often - Around our house, the kids know that if they come inside the house after playing, their stinky shoes have to stay outside, and they have to run and rinse their feet in the bathtub. Although this is only a quick wash, it does a lot to combat foot odor, and also makes the kids more comfortable. I don't have them use soap every single time because it would just dry their skin out too much.
