Kids' Grubby Feet Steal the Show in "Kate Plus 8."Out of eight kids, at least one is bound to find constant barefoot-ness uncomfortable. But does Kate Gosselin care? If you yourself like to go barefoot at times, ask yourself why you DON'T do it constantly when in your house. There's a reason for that: Often, it's just much more comfortable to have warm, dry socks on your feet so that your feet don't get sticky and sweaty, and then there's the support of shoes. Children should be allowed this same option.Kids tend to "run around" and move in erratic ways, often leaping and hopping. For this reason alone, they should, more times than not, be wearing sneakers. I'm not suggesting that kids should never, ever go barefoot at all. My criticism is that Kate Gosselin apparently forbids shoes/socks, and even good-traction slippers, in the house! And those kids are seen clumsily lopping around outdoors in sandals! Kids' feet need arch and heel support during play! Children cannot run, leap, skip, etc., efficiently in sandals. And what child doesn't get leather and buckle "burn" against their bare skin from sandals? How many bugs have Kate Gosselin's children stepped on already, indoors? Another thing to consider: What does Kate Gosselin's house smell like when you walk in? Think about that: Eight pairs of dirty, sweaty, grubby feet all over the place. In one episode of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," Colin is sniffing at his bare feet while they're outside on a picnic blanket. He blurts that his feet stink. NO KIDDING! Now times that by eight! To critics who insist that Kate makes the kids go barefoot because it saves on laundry: Newsflash: Kate doesn't do the laundry; she hires help! So what's it to her if the help has to wash eight pairs of socks every day? In summary, there's the stinky feet odor that certainly permeates the house; the unsightliness of all those grubby stubby bare feet; the potential for stepping on bugs and sharp objects; the potential for stubbing toes and tripping; and the suggestion of laziness on the part of Kate Gosselin for not wanting to bother helping her eight kids put on their socks. Visiting Kate Gosselin and her eight soon? Don't forget the nose plugs, and don't sit on the furniture; there's likely to be toe nail fragments and dirt from picked toe nails all over the cushions. "Kate Plus 8" season premiere aired on TLC June 6, 9 pm EST, but the "Kate Plus 8" premier will surely be aired again and again, not to mention additional episodes coming of Kate Plus 8.
