| Tips to Keep Shoe Laces Tied - Associated Content Posted: 19 Apr 2010 09:11 AM PDT Shoe laces can come apart easy and if a child is away at school or day care and they can't tie their shoes yet it could be a problem. Even as an adult your shoes may tend to come apart in the wrong places like when you are crossing a busy highway. Shoe laces that are round can come apart easier then shoe laces that are flat can. A flat shoe lace can hold together better since the shoe lace can be tied tighter then a round shoe lace can. One way that works well to keep your or your child's shoe laces tied is to wet the shoe laces before you tie them. Wet shoe laces stay together better then dry shoe laces do. You can dampen the shoe laces by spraying them with a bit of water before you tie them. You don't need to soak the shoe laces just make them moist. You can also take a wet towel and run it along the shoe laces to moisten them before you tie the shoe laces together. Another good way to keep shoe laces tied is to double knot the shoe laces. To double knot the shoe laces all you do is tie the shoe laces like you usually do. Then take the loops of the shoe laces and tie them together in a knot. Double knotting your shoe laces will keep the shoes tied but it may be difficult to untie them. You actually put a knot in the laces and that knot may be hard to untie when you want to untie the shoe laces. Shoe laces are easier to tie when the ends of the laces have the plastic tips on them. If your plastic tips have fallen off the shoe laces you can take a piece of tape and wind it around the end of the shoe lace to hold the end of the shoe lace together. If you don't want to use the tape you can also dip the ends of the shoe laces into some nail polish. Just twist the shoe lace end tight together and dip it into some nail polish. Then wait for the nail polish to dry before you use the shoes. You can replace the round type of shoe laces with some flat shoe laces to help the shoe laces stay together after you have tied them.
